Chapter 28 - Everyone Loves Surprises

Cesca finished her last mouthful with a giggle as Jonah’s hand tickled hers, “Jonah”, She cried out moving her hand away, she cleared her plate onto Jonah’s and carried the dishes through and began to stack the dishwasher, Jonah had cleared away all the pots and pans he’d used to create the meal earlier so that they could share this night together, he wanted it to be special and asking Cesca to do the dishes wasn’t exactly anyone’s idea of romance especially Cesca’s. Cesca finished placing in the last fork as Jonah wrapped his arms around her waist. He pulled her close, nothing was stopping him from holding his precious wife close to his body, he wanted her, and he needed her. Cesca placed her hands on his as they perched on her tiny waist. He nestled his head into her neck as Cesca turned her head towards his, giving him a sneaky kiss. She turned around fully as he planted his response on to her delicately soft lips, which appeared to be irresistible to Jonah. Their tongues locked together as the passion was slowly increasing, “I love you Cesca”, “I love you to”. Jonah pulled away heading into the lounge, Cesca followed a cheeky grin on her face, Jonah made her so happy, her expression was sweet, she was so curious as to what Jonah was doing, she guessed that he would be getting her surprise, she couldn’t help but try to catch a peek as to what it could be, before Jonah placed it in his strong hands behind his back. “Right, well it isn’t much but I hope you like it”, Jonah was almost apprehensive about giving Cesca his surprise, he could see how excited Cesca was at the prospect of a surprise even if that was mainly down to how impatient she was being, he didn’t want her to be disappointed, would she like it? Jonah took his hands from behind his back, they were cupping a small box it was cream and tied up with a red ribbon, Cesca’s favourite colour. Cesca’s eyes widened, “Jonah you shouldn’t have”, Cesca couldn’t believe how lovely Jonah was to her, she didn’t deserve all of this, Jonah really was completely and utterly in love with her and she loved him to. Cesca carefully took the box in her hands, she held it as if it was a new born baby it looked expensive. She was determined to open the box despite her hands frantically shaking. “Here, let me help you”, Jonah could see the present had got to her, Cesca was overwhelmed at his generosity, “You haven’t even opened it yet and your all emotional”, He said with a smile on his face, Cesca laughed, the ribbon was finally off and Cesca could now open the box to see what lurked inside. The anticipation was killing her but she still opened it slowly, wanting to embrace every moment. As she slowly opened the box, it swung back, it was the kind of box that was stiff and had a mind of its own. Sitting in the box was the most gorgeous bracelet, it held two silver hearts. “Jonah it’s lovely”, she kissed him on the cheek as he took the bracelet out of the box and place it on to her wrist, “These two hearts represent our family, the little heart, is a locket. It holds a tiny strand of Mia’s hair, that way you will always have a little piece of her with you”, Cesca began to well up, and a tiny tear trickled down her delicate face, splashing against her wrist as it landed. “And the bigger heart has I love Spanish engraved on to the back. A little token of how we first got together”. Jonah finished clasping the bracelet together so it fit comfortably around Cesca’s wrist; he looked up towards his beautiful wife who was now very emotional. He wiped away her tears with his hand as he slowly comforted her.

“Don’t cry”, Jonah said, “This was meant to make you happy”, Cesca broke a smile through her tears which was followed by her adorable giggle, “I am happy, these are happy tears. Jonah I love it, no one has ever done something like this for me before”, she kissed his soft, squidgy lips, “I will look at this bracelet and think of you, it will make me happy when I fell down and am missing you”. He smiled holding her close, their heads touched as they gazed into each other’s eyes, “I love you Mrs Kirby”. The pair cuddled up on the sofa, it was only 8 o’clock, which was nice as it wasn’t too late, and so they could really enjoy the evening. Cesca couldn’t help but rub her fingers all over her new bracelet, admiring every ounce of it, reading and re-reading the back of the big heart and fiddling with the little heart that was Mia. It was perfect, it was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for her, this wasn’t just a nice piece of jewellery it was her life. It was her family, all together on her wrist, all the things that really mattered to her, always close to her. Jonah held Cesca in his arms, her head perfectly laying against his chest, he kissed her forehead as she nestled in closer, “Jonah, I really don’t know what I would do without you, you’re the only person who makes me happy, you complete me”, Cesca said comfortably sitting in Jonah’s arms, she had never felt safer or more loved. “Ces, I will never stop loving you. I will never be able to show you how much you truly mean to me”. Cesca felt her cheeks reaching beet red, Jonah seemed to have that affect on her, “You don’t have to say that”, “Yes, yes I do. Ces, you’re my world, I’m never going to lose you”. “Who said anything about losing me, though if your feet continue to waft mouldy cheese might just have to leave you to it”. Cesca edged her way in to the sofa to avoid Jonah getting her back for her cheeky comment. “Cheesy indeed”. Jonah lifted his legs up and adjusted himself into a position where he was able to put his feet in Cesca’s face. This was a regular occurrence, winding each other up into stitches of laughing fits. “Jonah, Jonah. That’s disgusting...They reek!” Cesca was giggly and her reaction came across as slightly flirtatious. Jonah moved his feet; Cesca sat back up as the feet were gone so there was no reason to be dodging them.

Their eyes met, changing between looking into each other’s eyes and lips, Jonah went in for a kiss, a kiss so passionate it left Cesca gasping. The kiss was long and fiery, Jonah pulled Cesca close as the fireworks began to take over. Their lips were still locked tightly together as Jonah lifted Cesca up and began to carry her up the stairs; Cesca caressed his face as their lips had nowhere near finished saying hello. Jonah walked through to their bedroom placing Cesca on to their bed, they were both already breathless as they began to undress each other. Their clothes were thrown across the room like confetti at a wedding. There were laughs and giggles and a whole lot of passion as Cesca and Jonah continued their special night filled with romance. Cesca’s head was placed gracefully on her pillow, Jonah lay awake watching her sleep, there was something so breath taking about Cesca, he just couldn’t put his finger on it, but he knew for one thing that she was definitely something special, something he was going to treasure forever. Cesca was always going to be Jonah’s. He rolled over on to his side, placing his arm around her waist before adjusting himself so that he was closer to Cesca’s body, he felt her warmth, the love that radiated out of her, she smelt of strawberries, a factor that only drew Jonah closer to her. He too placed his head comfortably in to the pillow settling down for peaceful night, with no interruptions from Mia, it was just him and Cesca and right now that was all he wanted. Despite Cesca supposedly being asleep Jonah whispered to her “Cesca, I love you. Sweet dreams beautiful”. Jonah’s eyes closed as Cesca’s opened, she had heard every word that he had spoken and buried them deep into her heart with all the other lovely words and memories that they had shared together. She found herself placing her hand on Jonah’s, which was wrapped around her, she needed to feel the connection that the pair shared, allow the electricity that made her feel so good flow. Jonah really was Cesca’s missing puzzle piece, he filled her, completed her and most of all loved her. Words could not describe the love that the pair shared for each other, Cesca began to close her eyes, but not before she took one more look at her bracelet, this was always going to be the best surprise Cesca had ever had. Though she knew there would be many more to come, after all she was married to Jonah.
