Chapter 60 - This can't be happening?!

It was the next morning Mia had gone to bed with a smile on her face, seeing Daisy really had made her day even if the beginning of it had been a nightmare for Jonah and Cesca. Everything seemed to have worked out in the end. Cesca had fallen asleep in Jonah’s arms, his soft skin touching hers. Jonah’s eyes opened as the sun poured in, highlighting his rosy cheeks that were showing off his cheesy grin. He pulled Cesca closer to his body, still careful not to wake her, he just wanted to hold her close, and nothing else mattered at that second. He knew he needed to get up, he had a course out of town today, which meant leaving earlier than usual, Cesca was planning to walk Mia to school so all the arrangements were made, they just needed to get up. Jonah rolled away from Cesca into more of an upright position; he caressed her cheek as her eyes opened up. “Morning”, he said. Cesca just smiled, it was always nice to wake up next to Jonah it would put a smile on anyone’s face. “You should get up Ces, I’m on my course today and you need to take Mia to school”, Cesca groaned and Jonah laughed in response, “Sorry to ruin the plans of doing nothing”, “It’s not doing nothing it’s just not planning to do anything”, “Right”, Jonah said as he headed off to his shower, he waited at the door, staring at Cesca with a smile only she would ever understand, “What?”, she said in a giggly voice, “You're not moving very quickly”, “Alright, I’m getting up”. She rolled out of bed, it took a while she was huge, the babies were due any day now, but that wasn’t stopping Cesca from doing all the things she usually would, well obviously the bump got in the way but it wasn’t stopping her from doing the cleaning or taking Mia to school, she wanted to just get on with things as usual, she never was one for feeling sorry for herself. She didn’t understand how anyone could have time to do that, she certainly didn’t. She finally got up of the bed and headed to Mia’s room. The door was still shut so she carefully opened it, the door was a pain as it squeaked every time it was moved, “Great” Cesca said under her breath, she knew this would wake Mia, only putting her in a bad mood. Sure enough it had the covers were thrown back and Mia was sat on her bed arms folded and a frown plastered all over her little face. “Come on baby, we need to get ready for school”. Cesca wasn’t really feeling a slight positive spirit about it being morning, she just wanted to get Mia ready for school, they needed to leave in the next 45 minutes otherwise they were bound to be late. Cesca headed over to the wardrobe pulling out Mia’s school trousers, her polo shirt and cardigan before speaking to Mia for what would be the last time. “Right, Mia you need to get dressed, your uniform is on the chair, please be a good girl and just get ready”, Cesca looked at Mia with a ton of sincerity she needed Mia to just get ready, Jonah poked his nose in as he was now ready, “Hey, what’s going on in here then”, “The usual”, Cesca said. “You go get ready i’ll finish up in here”, Cesca smiled before giving him a sneaky peck and heading for a shower. “Mia, you need to get dressed, you’re going to make me late to”, Mia apprehensively began to get ready. She was in a sour mood which wasn’t really much of a surprise. She was all ready, Jonah got out her hairbrush ready for Cesca to do her hair once she was ready which was pretty much at the same time as Mia was. Jonah looked down at his watch, “I need to go”, he bent down to Mia giving her a hug and a kiss, “Be a good girl for mummy, I love you”, “I love you to”, Mia blew him a kiss as he turned to talk to Cesca who was dressed in a pretty summery dress it flowed so beautifully. “I love you, I should be back by 4 possibly later, I will try and get back as soon as I can”, “Don’t worry about us we’ll be fine, I love you lots”, Jonah pulled Cesca towards him before sharing a passionate kiss, Mia was waiting patiently for Cesca to be ready to finish getting her ready. Jonah headed downstairs the door slammed shut and that was him gone, the morning routine was almost over, all that was left was to do Mia’s hair.

Cesca sat down on Mia’s bed the usual way that she did Mia’s hair, but as she did she felt a huge prod, she really was suffering with the pregnancy today. Mia noticed that Cesca wasn’t doing her hair so turned around and looked up, “Are you okay mummy?”, She asked, “I’m fine baby, it’s just the twins”, Mia turned around and Cesca began to plait the front part of her hair across the front of Mia’s head, it looked really pretty, simple but very sophisticated. “Mia, go put your shoes on for me and be ready to leave by the time I am down”, Cesca smiled at Mia as she watched her bounce out of the room and down the stairs, her curly locks swinging to and thro as she did so. Cesca placed her hand on her stomach in her maternal way just as she felt another kick, “Enough already”, she said under her breath, Cesca really didn’t feel like being kicked and prodded today, she just wanted to be able to sit and do something to distract her from the discomfort, she hoped that the journey to school would be the perfect distraction. She grabbed her bag from her room along with her phone which was on the side next to her clock. She picked up the bracelet that Jonah had given her not that long ago and put it on before hearing Mia call up the stairs, “Come on mummy”, “Alright baby, just coming” Cesca felt another prod, she could feel it was going to be one of those days, she made her way down stairs and put on her flip flops, they were about the only pair of shoes that actually fit Cesca let alone felt remotely comfortable. She hated not being able to wear her favourite shoes; it was one of those things that just put you in a bad mood from the start. She put her bag on her shoulder before holding her hand out for Mia who took it with a smile on her face, “Come on then, let’s go”, Cesca said. She opened the door before insisting that Mia led the way, the walk to school was nice, they got a chance to talk and just have some good old fashioned mummy and Mia time, something they both loved and had missed, the pregnancy had taken so much time away from Cesca, she didn’t feel like doing all the things she used to and because of that Mia had suffered, but now that they were aware they were making every moment count. “So what do you think you’re going to be doing today then Mia?” Cesca asked, she enjoyed hearing about Mia’s day, Mia always got so excited and into it which just made Cesca so happy. “Maths....Literacy.....Music. Daisy likes music?”, “Does she?”, “Yes she likes the guitar, she can play it”, “Really?”, “Yes, she’s not as good as me though”, “Since when have you ever learned to play a guitar?” Cesca giggled, Mia did always make her laugh, she came out with the most random of comments sometimes. “Since yesterday”, “Since Daisy told you”, Mia stopped talking, “Well I am sure your very good Mia”, Cesca quickly snapped in after no response from Mia the last thing she needed was a screaming match outside the school gates, especially after the walk to school had actually gone so well. The staff on playground duty waited outside and watched as parents said goodbye to their children, “I’ll see you later, have a good day baby, love you lots”, “Love you to”, Mia bounced off like she usually did. “She has so much energy your Mia”, “She does, I don’t know where she gets it from”, Cesca recognised the voice talking to her, but her mind being so full of baby nonsense and worrying about Mia and Jonah being on his course she couldn’t figure it out until she turned around to see it was Janeece. “Hey Janeece, didn’t realise it was you”, Cesca didn’t quite know what to say, “We’re all missing you at work”, “That’s sweet of you all, well I am  sure I will be back before you know it”, “Well, it’s twins, it’s going to be hard”, “Thanks Janeece”. Janeece was always known for her blunt comments, “Haws Cheryl, I hadn’t realised she went to the same school. Hadn’t really crossed my mind that she was at school now, they grow up so quickly”, “I know and that’s her next to Bella”, Bella was a sweet little girl, red tinted locks; she almost looked like a mini Rhianna. “Gosh she has grown, still just as gorgeous though”, “Can say the same about your Mia, she is a spitting image of you both”, Cesca smiled, this was such a lovely compliment which really touched her. It went silent as the parents waved off their children just as Cesca got the biggest kick yet, then the most agonising pain she had ever felt. “No, this can’t be happening”, Cesca had twigged after all this wasn’t the first time. She tried to walk off whilst everyone was distracted, whilst Janeece was distracted but it was no use. Cesca got as far as the 2nd set of trees away from the parents before Janeece caught up with her, she didn’t have anything against her but they weren’t exactly close and Janeece wasn’t exactly the most reassuring of people. “Cesca are you okay?”, “I’m fine”, she tried to walk on still in serious pain Cesca began to break down, then suddenly.  Cesca’s face went beet red, as her waters gushed all over the floor, “That’s gross”, Janeece said, Cesca gave her a look which said for god sake. “You’ve been through it before, you’ve seen it”, Cesca shouted at her. Cesca began to try and walk away, “Wait, Cesca you need to go to hospital”, “I’m fine”, Cesca knew she wasn’t but she knew if she stayed it was sitting in an ambulance with Janeece and she didn’t want that but she didn’t have anywhere else to go.

Janice’s phone was in her hand dialling 999; Cesca could hear the ambulance being called. This was all she needed, she had waited to see their twins for such a long time but now she was doubting whether she was ready, was she ready to bring up two new born babies as well as a 5 year old? Cesca wasn’t sure, she needed Jonah he would be able to reassure her. She pulled her mobile out, dialling Jonah. It rang and rang and...RANG! No answer. Cesca didn’t know what to do. Janeece had already done the right thing. “Cesca, Adanna is on her way over here with Tom”, Cesca needed them and was glad they were coming but all she really wanted was Jonah. Her Jonah. It was his babies too! Tom arrived, the doors of his car swung open, Adanna following him, “Ces, are you okay?”, “I need Jonah”, Cesca screamed, parents were beginning to look. Adanna stayed comforting Cesca, “I think we can take it from here Janeece”, Janeece didn’t move, she had a look of disgust watching a colleague go into labour on the pavement, “Janeece”!” Adanna said, Cesca managed to give a little giggle, but then it was back to worrying, Tom cleared the parents and directed the ambulance down, “Adanna will you stay with me?”, Cesca had been through this all before, but this time she felt so alone, she didn’t have her Jonah to support her to enjoy the experience with, she had no one who could calm her down or tell her that he loved her. Tom got in the car as he waited to follow the ambulance, Cesca was placed on to a trolley and Adanna held her hand as they all spilled into the ambulance. This was defiantly nothing like the way Cesca imagined this all to go.  She wanted Jonah here, why wouldn’t he answer, why had he gone on his course? Why? He knew that their twins were due soon, why didn’t he think? Cesca couldn’t help but blame Jonah, he wasn’t there now so every emotion she felt for Jonah was taken over by the pain and frustration of going into labour. Jonah was in for a rough reception.... that’s if he even made it.
