Chapter 41 - So what will it be ...
Everyone was sound asleep the house was quiet and full of calm and a whole lot of love. Cesca had fallen asleep in Jonah’s arms, his hands so lovingly placed around her tiny stomach, including their tiny twins in moment. Cesca stirred a smile pouring across her face when she realised that she was with Jonah, their bodies touching as they enjoyed the love they shared in that one moment. “I love you”, “I love you too”, Cesca replied, placing her hand on his face as she snuggled in closer, it was Sunday so she fancied a lazy day, though sadly Mia had other ideas and for once was up early, bouncing in and jumping on to the bed, a skill she had finally mastered, which was unfortunate for Cesca and Jonah, who were quite happily lying in each other’s arms. “Morning”, Jonah called out to Mia who was crawling up and squeezing her way between them, Jonah put his arm round his girls, cherishing them in his arms.Mia let out a little grin, she began to sing to herself, “Mia, it’s too early for that baby”, Mia took no notice and carried on, Cesca and Jonah laughed, “Lesson learnt, Mia shouldn’t have strawberries, she has way to much energy already”, Cesca said, almost noting it down into her head, a little memo for herself in the future. “So, i suggest that we all get ready and have a movie day, what do you think?” Jonah asked, holding little Mia’s hand as he did so. “Only if we can watch The lion king first”, Mia declared, “Okay, you get first pick”, Jonah smiled as he watched Mia hope off to get ready, for once there were no tears, screams or shouting, she just got on with what she was told to do, finally learnt her lesson, they hoped! “Right Mrs Kirby, I think we have a few minutes”, Jonah began to kiss Cesca passionately “Jonah”, Cesca screamed out, liking his spontaneity, “I would love to, but this is Mia were talking about, she is a burst of energy at the moment I’m sure she’ll be ready soon”, “fair enough, just you wait till later”, Cesca giggled, before kissing Jonah one last time. As predicted Mia ran in, “Lion king Lion King”. “Okay Mia, mummy and daddy aren’t ready yet”. Jonah said Mia’s eyes became full of sadness, Cesca sat up ready to get out of bed. “Come on Mia, we have all seen that enough times for you to be watching the beginning quietly in the sitting room while we get ready”, Cesca got out of bed and held Mia’s hand as they walked down the stairs so that she could set it up for her on the TV. Jonah got out of bed and headed to get ready, he really didn’t want to get out of bed but he knew he should.
Cesca appeared upstairs to find that Jonah had beaten her to the shower, so instead she took the time to make the bed and decided on what she was wearing, it was a lazy day but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to look fab. She decided on wearing some cute tight skinny jeans and coral camisole top, she would look lovely in it, so she laid it on the bed and headed for the shower noticing that Jonah had just come out. Jonah was looking forward to just spending the day with his girls, but then he got a text: Hey J, thanks for last night, strawberries really do cheer you up, got any more, R. Jonah knew how down Ronan must have been feeling, he had just lost the love of his life, Jonah knew how it felt to have your heart ripped out of your body, how it felt to have the person you loved ripped away from you. He stared at his phone hoping it might just tell him what he should do, but obviously it didn’t. Cesca had gotten out of the shower she rested her head on his should before wrapping her arms round his waist. Noticing that he hadn’t responded she asked him “What’s the matter baby?”, “It’s Ronan, he says thanks for last night”, Jonah showed her the text, Cesca unwrapping her arms and sitting on the bed in front of Jonah, “J, I know how tough this must be for you, he needs you know more than ever, remember Spain. Do you remember how tough that was for us”, “I know, but Ces I want to spend the day with you and Mia, no one else, just us”, “Jonah, we’ll be fine, I’m sure we could save you some popcorn for when your back”, “Ces, I appreciate it but I don’t want to bury myself in their problems, I already have a bad feeling about it all”. “Whatever you want to do, why don’t you ask him over for dinner, at least he won’t be alone then, plus Mia really seemed to cheer him up yesterday”, “That sounds good, I love you”, “No need to thank me”, she said, she continued to get ready, once her jeans were on Jonah came over holding her close, “Jonah, I’m trying to get ready”, She giggled as his lips caressed her neck. She turned towards him so that they could share a long embrace, “Cesca, you have changed my life, I love you so much”, Cesca had a tear running down her eye, “Why do you always take advantage of my hormonal state”, She laughed before insisting that she really should get ready. Jonah went downstairs to see what Mia was up to, he walked into find his gorgeous little girl singing along to “I just can’t wait to be a king”, and it was the sweetest thing, especially when it reached the part of the song when Simba lets out a big roar. Mia was a pretty convincing little lion cub.
“oo , I like this part”, Jonah said, sitting back on the sofa next to Mia, he joined in with the singing, it brought an even bigger smile to little Mia’s face as she began to snarl at Jonah as the little lion cub. Jonah laughed, it was sweet “Alright Simba, were missing it”. Jonah cuddled up with Mia as Cesca walked downstairs smiling at the two of them before walking through to the kitchen to go and put some popcorn in to the microwave. The buzzer went as Cesca opened the door to hold a very hot bag of popcorn, not the best of ideas but she did it anyhow. She ripped it open, the smell wafting through the house, bringing a smile to the other two Kirby’s. She poured it into a bowl before bringing it through and snuggling into Jonah. “yummy”, Mia said. Cesca smiled. Cesca snuggled further into Jonah’s arms. The film had almost ended and Mia had fallen fast asleep. It was only mid day but sometimes doing nothing is more tiring than being busy. “Aw, bless her”, Cesca said. “Someone really does like their sleep”; “She was up particularly early this morning though. Right I better call the doctors”, “doctors, why?”, Jonah asked slightly panicked, “Never booked our next scan, I’ll be 5 months pregnant next week”, “The time really has flown by, I can’t wait to meet them”, “me neither”. Cesca grabbed the phone and headed to the kitchen to grab a coffee whilst making her appointment for the week after next. Jonah took this opportunity to call Ronan, check how he was and clarify that he was up for dinner at theirs. “hey, how you feeling today, got your text”, “All a bit touch and go, at least I know the real reason we’re over”, Ronan’s voice faded as he ended his sentence, “What do you mean?”, “She cheated on me, with her best friends boyfriend to start with”, “What!”, Jonah was surprised, Vicki may have caused trouble at the start of his and Cesca’s relationship but he never took her as the cheating type, “Sounds like you defiantly need to come over for dinner”, Jonah could feel a smile appear on his face as Ronan replied “Sounds great, thanks for everything I shall see you later”. Jonah appeared back in the living room, Cesca had just got off the phone to. “Just checked up on Ronan, Vicki cheated on him”, “What!”, “The exact words I used”, “Poor Ronan, that must be hard”, “Yeah, he’s not great, he said he will pop round for dinner”, “Great, look forward to it. The appointments booked for a week after Tuesday”.”Great baby, it’s all so exciting.”
Cesca and Jonah once again settled down to watch another film; Mia had woken up and was happily scoffing down more popcorn. Jonah’s hand was comfortably resting on Cesca’s stomach as Cesca’s face was locked in a permanent smile. The time passed all too quickly as it soon reached 7 o’clock, Jonah was to start making dinner especially since they had Ronan coming over. Jonah began to set the table as he had decided pizza, being a nice comfort food would be best for Ronan. The door rang and Cesca went to answer it, closely followed by Mia, who was rather excited at the prospect of someone being at the door. “Hey Ronan”, Cesca said, trying to keep her tone light but not overly happy. “Hey, thanks for this”, “It’s the least we could do”, Cesca smiled as Mia ran up to Jonah who picked her up and happily played with her in the lounge whilst Cesca went to check on Jonah who was busy chopping up salad in the kitchen, “He’s here”, “Oh good, how’s he looking”, “Well not so great but Mia seems to be putting a smile on his face, once again. Think the trick is to keep busy, distract him for a bit. This is going to be a long process”, “Thanks Ces”, she gave him a kiss before calling everyone to the table. They all sat down inclining their heads towards Mia as she decided that her pizza looked like a smiley face, “Mine looks kind of like an elephant, what do you think Mia?”, Mia laughed “Don’t be silly, it’s a butterfly, see”. Mia pointed it out to him, “Ah, I see it”, Ronan smiled. Jonah and Cesca were once again proud of her, she was always one to save the day, be everyone’s little ray of sunshine.
