Chapter 54 - Sneaky behavior leads to more mess

Cesca and Jonah were all cuddled up in bed, their arms surrounding their gorgeous twins who were now named Betsy and Oscar. Nothing could be better, they were happy and even more excited than before, this felt like it was all finally happen, it finally felt within reach, felt sooner than they thought it was. They were finally ready to welcome their arrivals, there was no more rushing around to finish decorating though their names were to still be wallpapered on to the wall, a job Cesca had planned for him in the morning, they had brought enough clothes for now, though that would always be ever growing, Cesca never couldn’t resist a cute little outfit, they were fully embracing their twins arrival, even Mia was excited, she’d had few sleepless nights recently over it, Jonah would sit with her and talk about them, Mia would always have a beaming smile on her face as she told her daddy everything she had planned for them, it made Jonah smile despite him only wanting Mia to  doze off and sleep peacefully, there little girl had way to many bags of energy sometimes and it was always apparent at night when she was meant to be resting , the couple would often be laying in each other’s arms and hear the sweet whispers of Mia talking to her teddy’s, it always made Cesca’s heart melt! Cesca’s eyes were slowly fluttering shut, she was exhausted all this drama and excitement  had taken its toll on her, Jonah though was still wide awake and decided to surprise Cesca in the morning with having the twins room completed, the excitement had, had the opposite affect than it had, had on Cesca. It was keeping him awake, making him feel alive. He loved the idea of meeting his twins; having Mia was the most amazing feeling ever and he knew that, that feeling of unconditional love would only multiply by 3 once they arrived. He began to roll out the paper they had chosen for Oscar, it was baby blue and white nautical striped, he picked up his pencil and began to spell out Oscar, there was some feeling of satisfaction and a sense of pride at writing his sons name for the first time. He finished the R before admiring it, it looked so right, the name was almost as special as having him with them, there are that very second. The scissors were the next to make an appearance as her cut out each letter, as carefully as he could, it looked great. Soon enough Oscar’s name had been cut out and it was time to do Betsy’s. Jonah was easily losing track of time, if he hadn’t been so excited he would have noticed that it was now 2am.

Meanwhile Marcus had arrived at the cafe and was now waiting for Hannah, he had been their alone, and holding a mug of what was now cold tea between his hands for over an hour. Who was he kidding she wasn’t coming; she wasn’t going to make an appearance. She wasn’t the mature, warm hearted adult that Marcus was so it didn’t come as a surprise though it did anger him! His fingers tapped against the porcelain mug his feet sliding across the floor as he moved constantly, as he attempted to pass the time. If he was so convinced that she was going to turn up, why was he sat waiting for her? Why hadn’t he moved on, she wasn’t coming so who was he letting down? He knew who he was letting down, he was letting down his baby, his son or daughter and that was something Marcus never planned on doing, he would always be there for his children, whatever situation they were in, Jonah was proof of that along with Mia and their expectant twins.  Marcus bit his lip and breathed heavily, he was beginning to gain the characteristics of an angered gorilla, it was just a matter of time until he lashed out and then Hannah walked through the door, she looked rushed, messy almost. Definitely not herself though, she wasn’t wearing any makeup and had the loosest dress on, this wasn’t like Hannah which only led to Marcus questioning the state of her. “Are you okay?”, “not really, you woke me up to meet you in a cafe at 2 am in the morning”, “Well it was 12, but you had to be late”, “So now it’s my fault”. “Calm down Hannah”. Marcus remained calm, he just wanted to make the necessary arrangements surrounding the pregnancy and then get on with it, do what he had to do but not involving Hannah in his life. He wanted to sort this; he wanted it to all be fair on the baby, their baby. For it to be fair the baby needed a mummy and a daddy, people and family that loved and wanted them. “Look Hannah, we need to talk about this”, “What’s to talk about”, Hannah was snappy and rude, Marcus kept his cool, which was unlike him but he didn’t want to waste time arguing it was late enough as it was. “Our baby”, Hannah’s eyes fell to the floor, “What are we going to do about our baby?”, “Well I want to keep it”, Hannah said, her face was pale, sick with worry. Marcus reached his hand out as a friend, Hannah was reluctant to take it, and this was unusual for her with the fact that she was practically throwing herself at him a few days ago. Marcus just simply thought that she was nervous, it was a big thing having a baby; they weren’t together so this was going to be really difficult, Hannah seemed to know this more than Marcus did, though he was willing to be a supportive friend, a helping hand. He hadn’t exactly prepared himself for fatherhood again; he had just about got other the idea of being a grandparent and was now fully embracing every second. Hannah’s face shot from pale to grey in a matter of moments, Marcus was away with the fairies imagining what it might all be like, being a father again, and raising a tiny baby. Hannah screamed as sharp pinching sensations covered her belly, she was in agony. Marcus wasn’t quite sure how to react or what to do, this wasn’t meant to end like this, they were just meant to talk, not end up with a trip to hospital. Marcus yanked his phone from his pocket, Hannah was now on the floor clutching the chair she was sat on for dear life, tears streamed down her not so delicate face, “Ambulance, quickly! It’s my friend she is pregnant and in serious pain”, he gave the ambulance directions to where they were before sitting next to Hannah who screamed at him, “I want Charlie, Charlie. Get me Charlie”, Marcus was confused, his head was filled with so many problems and factors. “Marcus get me Charlie”, “Charlie?”, Marcus didn’t know who he was until Hannah filled him in, “Charlie Fisher!!”, She screamed in his face, Marcus ran through his contact list, dialling Charlie’s number, he didn’t know why he was calling but simply did as he was told. It seemed to take ages for him to get through, “Come on, Come on”, Marcus murmured to himself as he paced the floor, Charlie answered as the ambulance burst through the doors and headed over to help Hannah, “Hey it’s Marcus”, “You alright mate”, Charlie replied. “I’m with Hannah, she is asking for you”, “Where is she? Is she okay?” Marcus was puzzled buy Charlie’s passion towards Hannah’s welfare, “I’m not sure, they’re taking her off in the ambulance now”, “Go with her. For me. I’ll meet you there”, Marcus didn’t have the chance to say no as Charlie cut off. Why was Charlie coming, it was Marcus’s baby, why Charlie have to be involved, why was Hannah calling Charlie’s name and not his? Marcus was puzzled; it was late which didn’t really give him the clear head he needed to be able to understand the whole entire situation.

Elsewhere Jonah had pasted and put up both their baby twins names, Betsy and Oscar were now on the wall, they looked gorgeous but not as gorgeous as the real two special people were going to be. Jonah sat down leant against the wall, holding one of their teddy’s close to his chest as he admired his handy work, it was so peaceful, Jonah was defiantly preparing himself for all the crying that they would be doing all peace and quiet was from now until the birth treasured, it wouldn’t happen very often after that, even at bed time. Cesca woke, she was so tired so didn’t understand what had woken her, the babies weren’t kicking and she wasn’t in pain so there wasn’t anything to wake her, she rolled over towards Jonah but he wasn’t there, she opened her eyes to see the empty space. She looked over at her clock, 3am. Where was he, it wasn’t time for breakfast or morning telly, so what was he doing? Cesca rolled back over, it was a struggle with a belly the size of a beach ball to lug around with you. She found her feet as she sat on the edge of her bed and pushed herself up before waddling off to find Jonah, she rubbed her eyes as she spotted Jonah. He was sat still holding the teddy, this time his eyes were closed and he was breathing softly. Cesca reached the doorway of the twins room, the light was on so it was easily visible to see what he has been up to, that and the rolls of wallpaper all over the floor were a slight give away. “Hey”, She softly muttered in her husky voice, Jonah opened his eyes, slightly confused as to what he was doing then remembered, “Surprise”, Cesca giggled before fully taking in what he had been up to, he got up realising that it would be difficult for Cesca to join him in her condition. He held her close, wrapping his arms around her waist, allowing her to face the wall and take it all in. Cesca was speechless it truly did look beautiful. “Thank you J”, Cesca didn’t know what else to say, it just looked so perfect, “You didn’t need to do it during the night though”, Cesca said. “I was awake, the excitement of picking their names gave me some energy, I couldn’t sleep”, “Bet your shattered now though”, “Yes, just a little”. Cesca giggled, she knew how tired he was after all she had just caught him asleep on the twin’s floor. Jonah picked up the teddy, placing it back where it came from before taking Cesca’s hand and heading back to bed, it was 3am and they both needed there sleep, they had a 4 year old to deal with in the morning  and one with more energy than most. Cesca flicked the light switch before leading Jonah back to bed; they once again found themselves in eachohters arms. “It’s beautiful”, Cesca whispered before slowly falling asleep with the biggest grin on her face ever. Jonah held her close, he was first to fall asleep, Cesca didn’t dare shut her eyes until he had, she didn’t want him to start doing some other crazy thing, she cared about him and wanted to make sure that he looked after himself, doing things in the middle of the night was definitely going to affect him in the morning, still his actions were the sweetest words. It were as if Jonah could read her mind, she no longer had to imagine the room complete, Jonah had finished it, it looked so homely and crisp at the same time.

Marcus was now waiting outside the room that Hannah was being examined in, they had worked out the problem and were trying to solve it, but they weren’t having much luck, Hannah was an older lady and falling pregnant at her age is highly unlikely, her body was beginning to reject it. It was attempting to flush it away. Charlie approached Marcus to the sounds of Hannah screaming and crying, he took a look at Marcus before storming in. Marcus was worried but at the same time confused, since when was Charlie so important to Hannah, since when was Charlie number 1? The doctors came out having stabilised and solved the problem, Hannah was on strict instructions to take it easy and was being supervised very closely they needed to monitor her and the baby. Marcus watched Charlie and Hannah through the window before deciding himself that he should go in, he watched as Charlie and Hannah passionately kissed, his hand placed on her rounded stomach, it was obvious that she was pregnant, but Marcus had only slept with her a week ago if not a few days. There was no way that this baby was his, why did Hannah say it was? Why did she always have to dig herself in to other people’s lives, causing havoc and frustration amongst everyone? He burst the door open, “You lying cow!” Marcus screamed at her, “I’m sorry”, Charlie interrupted with force and aggression to his voice, “I think you should leave“Charlie said, “Hannah, you will never change. You will always be the spineless cow who wrecks everything. This time you are just plain sick, using a baby to give you money”, “Marcus don’t”, Charlie was completely unaware of the fact that Hannah had spent the night with Marcus, “Hang on a minute, you slept... with him”, “It wasn’t how you think it was”, “No it was worse, you got me drunk to seduce me, you knew that way I wouldn’t have a clue as to what I was doing”. “I thought you loved me Hannah, I thought you wanted everything I could give you”, “and I do”, Hannah became all teary, “No... You don’t. You’re on your own, who knows if the baby is even mine, who else have you been sleeping with?”, Marcus was so angry but he had to leave, he ran out of the door leaving Charlie and Hannah to continue their argument it was clear Hannah has used more than one person in this scam. “Charlie, I really do love you, don’t go. What about our baby”. “Us, that’s a joke isn’t it”. Charlie calmly left, he too was angry but refused to show it, Hannah was left on her own, her and her baby in a hospital bed, she had no one. What had she done, how had this benefited anyone? Hannah was in one big mess and the worst part was, it didn’t seem like there was any way out, her baby was due in 4 months and now she was on her own. Perfect.
