Chapter 65 - Roll On 1st Day Back
Today was an important day; it was Cesca’s first day back at work well she wasn’t going to be teaching anybody till tomorrow today was only an inset day. However it still meant getting back into a routine of getting up, shower, wake Mia up for school, have breakfast, which was a pretty tight schedule which was to be made even tighter by having the twins routine to fit into that to. Cesca had, had a pretty okay night, well it wasn’t the 9 hours sleep she dreamed of having back again but it also wasn’t the night sleep from hell which consisted of being woken up at least every hour. Cesca and Jonah had got the twins into a pretty good routine, they woke up 3 times a night, which wasn’t as bad as it could be, to be fed or changed and sometimes it was simply for a hug. Cesca and Jonah were fully embracing having the twins around they were just perfect and weren’t too much trouble, but then again they were only 3 months old there were still double the terrible two’s to hit them. Ever since the day at the park Mia had begun to open back up, be more of her usual self, be that big sister she really wanted to be. The alarm sounded, it was possibly the most despised sound, still it was better than the sound of Betsy or Oscar screaming so Cesca quite calmly began to pull the covers back but as she did so Jonah stirred and reached out his arm to her, “And where do you think you’re going”, Cesca smiled, “Well we have work and was kind of hoping I could beat you to the shower”, Cesca giggled as Jonah pulled her back down and closer to his body, “Jonah”, Cesca said through another giggle as his lips began to caress her neck and his arm surround her body. “Seriously J, we got to get up”,”Alright party pooper”, Cesca laughed once more before giving him a long passionate kiss which only left him wanting more. She got out of bed, the biggest smile plastered all over her face as she went for a shower. Jonah thought he should get up to, Cesca was right they both had work today and Mia had school. Jonah made the bed, which was a first to be honest and then made his way to check on his beautiful baby twins before going and waking up Mia, he knew that was a risky mission and there was bound to be an eruption in some shape or form. He quietly headed over to the twins room, they lay in their cots fast asleep, well until Jonah opened the door and Betsy woke up grizzling,”hey, no crying”, he whispered as he headed over to pick her up, she instantly stopped, “That’s better”, he held Betsy in his arms before checking on Oscar, who looked very content so for now he left him to sleep. Jonah carried Betsy out the room and decided that he should probably get Mia up she had school and they couldn’t afford to be late. He opened the door as he whispered, “Shall we go and wake your sister up, shall we?” He walked on in Mia was completely zonked, “Mia”, Mia stirred and turned around to look at her daddy, “Time to get up baby”. “No”, “Mia, I’m not having this argument with you, you have school today. Get ready and I shall get your coco pops ready”, “Okay”, Mia was persuaded by the coco pops, “Thank you baby”, Jonah left the room and headed downstairs to go and make Mia’s coco pops as promised as well as boiling the kettle ready for Cesca who was bound to be in need of her morning caffeine fix. Mia’s bowl was all laid out on the table in her favourite bowl with her favourite spoon. Betsy lay in Jonah’s arms giggling away at the funny faces he was making, he filled a mug with coffee granules and left Cesca to do the rest, “Do you think mummy will like it Betsy, do you”, Holding one of the twins just filled Jonah with so much happiness. It wasn’t long before Cesca appeared in the kitchen wearing some tight jeans and a pretty floral blouse which delicately flowed over the white camisole she had on underneath, she wasn’t too dressed up since it was only a day of planning and being filled in on everything by Karen but she still needed to look smart. Her hair was half up half down and she had pair of gorgeous purple heels on, she had waited such a long time to be able to wear them. “Well doesn’t mummy look pretty”, Jonah said to Betsy as he passed her to Cesca “alright you, you go and get ready”, Cesca gave Betsy a hug before following Jonah out of the lounge to put Betsy down in her bouncer so she could finish getting ready, “J, can you tell Mia to hurry up”, “Sure thing”, Jonah went off to tell Mia to come down before getting ready for work himself. Cesca had finished her mug of coffee by the time Mia finally appeared.
“Where have you been sleepy head?”, “Getting ready”, “Alright well eat up you haven’t got long till we need to leave”, Cesca placed her mug in the sink before heading over to pick up Betsy, “I’m just going to get Betsy and Oscar dressed Mia, I will be down in a minute make sure you eat all of it please”, Mia nodded like the good girl she was, Cesca smiled at her not so little girl then headed upstairs with Betsy. Jonah was finishing buttoning up his shirt as he left his bedroom room bumping into Cesca on the way, “Can you come and help me with the twins J?”, “Sure”, he said with a smile on his face, anything for his Cesca. Cesca strut into the twins room placed Betsy down on one of the changing tables and picked out a bright pink white polka spotted top and paired it with a cute pair of denim frilled dungarees, they were practical but cute. Cesca had another little girl to dress up all girly and that was something she loved. Cesca picked up Betsy above her head as Betsy giggled before placing her back in her arms; Betsy was in full giggle mode. Jonah had put Oscar in his tiny jeans and a white v-necked t-shirt and completed it with a checked shirt jacket, he was definitely growing into that boy that all the girls were going to fancy. “Oscar you handsome boy”, Cesca said holding Betsy. They all walked downstairs they had 10 minutes before they needed to leave, they placed the twins in their bounces and got their stuff together ready for the day they all had. Cesca grabbed her bag and filled it with all the books and folders she needed or had been marking “Mia have you got your school bag together?”, “yes mummy”, Mia was sat playing with the twins, it was more like teasing but the twins were too young to understand, Mia would dangle a toy in front of them and then carefully place it behind her back, it made them giggle and kept them occupied something both Jonah and Cesca were relieved to see. “Right I’m ready Cesca said as she sat down next to Mia as she watched her play with the twins, Betsy and Oscar were both smiling away. “Is that fun Oscar?” Cesca said with an exaggerated smile, that only came out when she was with her family. Oscar let out one of his famous smiles, the smile he had inherited from his daddy. Betsy kicked away with excitement; she loved spending time with her big sister just as much as Mia loved spending time with her baby sister. “Right, I’m sorted shouldn’t we get going”, Cesca made one more face at Betsy before turning around to answer Jonah, “Yeah we probably should. Mia can you go put your shoes on please”, Mia didn’t budge she was happy sitting with her baby brother and sister, “Please Mia, they’ll still be here to play with later”, Cesca said with a smile on her face, Mia looked over at her mummy with a smile of pride, it were as if Mia felt like she had to start being the role model she was set out to be for her brother and sister despite them only being 3 month old babies. Cesca picked up Oscar and Jonah went for Betsy as they placed them into their car seats, they were going into work with Cesca and Jonah today since it was only an inset day, tomorrow they would be spending the day with granddad, he had always been a great help and to be honest he quite enjoyed the company now with both his children being all grown up, Ruth was away at Uni, time really had flown by but it really had been the best years of all their lives, it may have been tough – tough being the biggest understatement but it only made them stronger, who said families didn’t come with dramas anyway?
Mia had her book bag already with everything she needed for her first day back as a year 1 student, it was weird to think at 22 Jonah’s first child was well into school life. It was defiantly sooner than any of his friends but he felt like he had the best of both worlds, a family with the love of his life and the greatest friends who all made up the most amazing support network any of them could have asked for. Betsy was all set in her navy and white polka dotted car seat she was so comfy she had fallen asleep. Oscar was also in his car seat which was blue with white stars, rather snazzy and very cute; however Oscar wasn’t exactly having a cute moment as he chose now to scream his head off. Cesca sighed, “Ces, let’s just get to the car and then try and settle him there”, “Okay, good plan”, Cesca hoped this would work, the last thing they needed was a car full of screaming babies, the journey would end up being more of a crèche at this rate. Cesca reached the door first, followed by Jonah, “Right come on then lovely”; she smiled at Mia who looked so grown up going back to school. But Mia’s usual happy face wasn’t there, Cesca looked puzzled, “What’s the matter Mia?”, Cesca asked, she looked at Jonah,”I’ll put the twins in the car whilst you talk to Mia, “Okay J”, Mia walked back to the step, Cesca handed the car seat over to a proud Jonah, it was a weird feeling finally having their twins to look after. They exchanged a sweet kiss before Cesca went to speak to her little girl. “So do you want to tell me what’s bothering you Mia?” Cesca asked calmly as she sat next to Mia, wrapping an arm around her little girl to reassure her. “I don’t want to go back to school”, “Do you really think I want to go back to work and slog my guts out?”, Cesca asked with a smile on her face, Mia laughed as if the answer was obvious, “Look, it’s hard to go back after such a long break but you’re going to have fun, you’re going to learn new things, use your new pens, plus you’ll get to see Daisy”, a smile reappeared on Mia’s face, “That’s better”, Cesca said, “Now come on, I’m sure daddy is loving being on his own in the car with Oscar screaming his head off”, Cesca got up and Mia wrapped her arms around her mummy before taking her hand and walking out to the car. Cesca simply looked down and said, “I love you baby”, “I love you to”, Mia said. They reached the car to find Jonah trying to calm Oscar down he was still crying, “Let’s go and rescue daddy”, Cesca said, Mia bounced over willing to help, “Oscar” Mia called out, Jonah moved out of the way so that Mia could try and calm him down, “Where’s your nose gone?”, Mia said as she lightly pinched his nose putting her thumb between her fingers and hiding it behind her back, “Where’s it gone Oscar?”, She took her hand from behind her back, “is this it?”, Oscar was smiling and giggling away, his cheeks a little tear stained, he was only little so he didn’t respond much other than giggling away and smiling. Jonah was leant against the open car door, Cesca’s arms wrapped around his waist her head resting on his chest, “So what is it that she’s got that I don’t?”, Jonah joked, “She’s his sister, Oscar adores her and so does Betsy”, Cesca smiled up at Jonah, “I’m so proud of her Ces”, “I know you are, she is the best big sister”, Cesca and Jonah shared a more loving kiss before realising the time and getting in the car. Cesca helped Mia to get buckled in before getting in the car herself, Oscar was content his eyes scanning the car, Betsy still asleep as they took the drive to Mia’s school.
Jonah pulled up outside school, Cesca got out and left Jonah with the twins, Mia kissed her little brother goodbye and went to kiss Betsy but was stopped by Cesca, “Let her sleep Mia, she’ll only wake up, she knows you love her”, Cesca had aborted what would have been another screaming match, Mia hopped out and once again held Cesca’s hand, Jonah smiled as he watched his eldest daughter go off to school. Jonah had never imagined the life he had now and he couldn’t think of any other, it was just perfect, he had a good job, his family and the support of friends, there was no better feeling than watching your children grow and being with the person you truly love and having them feel the same way about you. Cesca returned to the car, Mia went off to school excited after her talk with mummy before they left. “Right waterloo road it is”, Jonah said as they headed off to work, Oscar was now also asleep which made the journey much less chaotic. Jonah reached out as if it to change gears but sure enough his hand found its way to Cesca’s leg, “Your pushing your luck Kirby”, Cesca muttered with the cheesiest grin and reddest beet cheeks she could possibly muster as she looked out towards the window, “What you on about”, Jonah smirked, “Alright mister, it’s like that is it”, Jonah parked the car and Cesca gave Jonah a long passionate kiss, before saying ,”It feels good to be back”, “Really?”, “Well there’s only so much morning telly and making bottles I can take”, “There were good moments to”, “I see what you’re getting at here, yes it was lovely to just wake up next to you in the morning”, “Yeah that does sound good”, Cesca bit her lip as she found herself holding in a sexy giggle. They got out of the car grabbing their bags and a twin each before heading towards the legendary stone steps of waterloo road. They were midway to the school when Adanna plodded over, not her usual self. “J you go on in, this doesn’t seem right”, “You sure”, “Yeah you take Betsy I’ll be over in a second”. “Adanna”, Cesca called over to Adanna who was on her own, her head bowed to the floor, “Where’s Tom”, Cesca said, it was the first thing that entered her head, she barely ever saw the pair of them without each other. Adana’s head stayed fixed to the floor, “Adanna what’s happened?”, Cesca was genuinely concerned, “It’s over Ces”, Adanna was genuinely upset and a tear began to roll down her cheek, “I never felt that way about a guy before, I thought they were all losers and creeps before..”, “Tom”, Cesca finished her sentence. “Yeah”, Adanna said lost for words slightly. “What happened, last time I saw you, you were happy,” “To be honest Ces, he’d been so distant lately, he was out late and just didn’t want to spend time together”, Cesca listened tentatively to her dear friend, she wanted and was going to be there to support her no matter what, “We went out last night a few of us teachers, including Eleanor”, “What happened with Eleanor? Cesca asked knowing that something wasn’t right at all; she could almost feel Adana’s pain. “Well Tom had a drink, which led to another. I practically sat there the whole night on my own, I suggested we should go he’d had way to much but no he was adamant we were going to stay, but then he got talking to Eleanor, they were both pretty drunk but that doesn’t excuse it”, “doesn’t excuse what?”, Cesca said. “He kissed her and I don’t just mean a peck I mean he really went for her and I mean it felt and looked meaningful, like they were meant to be”, Adana’s voice drowned out at the end of her sentence.
Cesca had a sudden flashback of last term, the brief moments that she was actually there, Cesca suddenly saw the way that Tom and Eleanor looked at each other, she hadn’t really thought about it before with Tom and Adanna being a couple but they defiantly had some kind of chemistry, Cesca felt awkward I mean Tom was her friend too, how was this supposed to work, Adanna and Tom were defiantly not on friend terms especially after everything he did to her, but Cesca was also feeling mad at Tom, cheating was the biggest bug bear Cesca had, in a relationship your meant to stay committed to one another, why else are you together. It hurt her more the fact that Tom was her friend; she never thought he could do that to anyone. Cesca offered Adanna a shoulder to cry on, before sorting her out, wiping away her tears and slight panda eyes, “Right you’re going to go in there and do your job, I’m here for you. It’s going to be hard to face him but you’re going to have to do it, Be strong, like you always are, it’s usually you picking up the pieces, aye”, Cesca said, reassuring Adanna and attempting to boost her confidence levels, they headed into school, today defiantly helped that it was an INSET day, it could have been the day and moment from hell if the kids had been in. The pair of them reached the staff room, “Now head up, strong”, Adanna walked in Cesca followed and they got on with their morning as normally as possible, Cesca kept her eye on her friend, this had defiantly hit her more than any one would have expected. Cesca sat down next to Jonah and took a deep breath in, “everything okay”, “Not exactly”, “What’s up”, “Let’s just say Adanna and tom are finished”, “What? Why?”, Jonah asked, “he cheated”, Jonah was as shocked as Cesca was, “Seriously”, “I don’t quite know what to do”, “Look, take a deep breath and let it sort itself out, relationships are tricky and it’s only going to be stressful, Adanna will always have you, she knows that but you got to stay calm, we got our twins and nothing needs to stress you out”, Cesca looked up at Jonah, he always knew what was best, he would always be there to take care of her and look out for her, she was his Cesca his beautiful wife who he meant the world to him. Cesca looked down at their twins they were both sleeping, it was peaceful one of those golden moments, the teachers were cooing and congratulating as Karen walked in to talk to everyone, but then shockingly she bounced over, “Cesca, it’s lovely to see you”, Cesca smiled, Karen and Cesca really had built up a good relationship after everything, it was nice to be on good terms with your boss. “Are these the twins”, “Yeah, Betsy and Oscar”, “They are gorgeous, Oscar defiantly looks like Jonah”, Karen said, “You haven’t seen his little smile”, the pair talked away until Karen really did need to get on with delivering the agenda of the next term. But then Tom walked in the room was silent, Cesca felt awkward she shifted the way she was sitting, “Ces, don’t worry. I love you”, Jonah whispered in her ear, his hand on her thigh and a relieved smile on her face, “I love you to”, she said looking up at Jonah quickly before listening in to what Karen had to say.
“So it’s a new term and a new year, hope you all had a lovely summer. We have high hopes for Waterloo road this year”, Karen began, Cesca turned to look at Adanna whose glare was fixed solely on Tom whose fingers were interlocked with Eleanor’s, Cesca’s heart just melted for her, relationships at work really were hard to cope with, especially in the cases when everything turns belly up, “Right well I want to finish by welcoming back Cesca our head of Spanish after being on maternity leave after having their twins Betsy and Oscar, congratulations guys there truly gorgeous and I have to say they have been very good throughout this”, Jonah and Cesca smiled. “I would also like to welcome Hattie Williams, a new history teacher. Hattie was a slim blonde lady, fresh out of college, she seemed lovely and friendly but rather quiet she hadn’t had a chance to properly mingle in with anyone as of yet, but it was only the start of term. “Finally we have a few new students joining, Nikki Armstrong and Esme Rodriguez, both year 8 pupils, they will be in your tutor group Cesca, Nikki has just been taken out of a foster placement so we have been told she could be quite fragile under the surface but overall I have been told she is a confident student with a love for sport and Spanish”, “Well I’m not going to complain if students want to learn”, Cesca said. “Yes, teaching is much more enjoyable when students want to learn, Esme has recently moved over from Spain, she speaks amazing English but we felt she would benefit from having you as her tutor you being our head of Spanish”, “I’ll do my best to make them feel welcome”, Cesca was rather excited about meeting her new mentees, it was always nice to have some new fresh faces in the school. So they had all been informed of the new plans and new details for the new school year, they were all set all that was left to do now was bring on the first day back, though for Adanna that was seeming to be an even harder step to climb with Tom fully embracing his new relationship with Eleanor despite it only being over for less than 8 hours. Adanna really was going to have to keep strong if she was going to have any chance of getting through this, she just needed to remember Cesca’s words, she was here to do her job and she needed to remember that she was here for the students and that was what mattered, Adanna decided the best thing to do would to just get on with it all so she went and admired baby Betsy and Oscar who were still fast asleep, it made Cesca feel better inside seeing Adana’s genuine smile that they all often saw reappear after finally getting everything straight in her head, though it sure wasn’t going to be as easy as just forgive and forget.

Jonah reached out as if it to change gears but sure enough his hand found its way to Cesca’s leg, “Your pushing your luck Kirby”, Cesca muttered with the cheesiest grin and reddest beet cheeks she could possibly muster as she looked out towards the window, “What you on about”, Jonah smirked, “Alright mister, it’s like that is it”, Jonah parked the car and Cesca gave Jonah a long passionate kiss, before saying ,”It feels good to be back”, “Really?”, “Well there’s only so much morning telly and making bottles I can take”, “There were good moments to”, “I see what you’re getting at here, yes it was lovely to just wake up next to you in the morning”, “Yeah that does sound good”, Cesca bit her lip as she found herself holding in a sexy giggle. They got out of the car grabbing their bags and a twin each before heading towards the legendary stone steps of waterloo road. They were midway to the school when Adanna plodded over, not her usual self. “J you go on in, this doesn’t seem right”, “You sure”, “Yeah you take Betsy I’ll be over in a second”. “Adanna”, Cesca called over to Adanna who was on her own, her head bowed to the floor, “Where’s Tom”, Cesca said, it was the first thing that entered her head, she barely ever saw the pair of them without each other. Adana’s head stayed fixed to the floor, “Adanna what’s happened?”, Cesca was genuinely concerned, “It’s over Ces”, Adanna was genuinely upset and a tear began to roll down her cheek, “I never felt that way about a guy before, I thought they were all losers and creeps before..”, “Tom”, Cesca finished her sentence. “Yeah”, Adanna said lost for words slightly. “What happened, last time I saw you, you were happy,” “To be honest Ces, he’d been so distant lately, he was out late and just didn’t want to spend time together”, Cesca listened tentatively to her dear friend, she wanted and was going to be there to support her no matter what, “We went out last night a few of us teachers, including Eleanor”, “What happened with Eleanor? Cesca asked knowing that something wasn’t right at all; she could almost feel Adana’s pain. “Well Tom had a drink, which led to another. I practically sat there the whole night on my own, I suggested we should go he’d had way to much but no he was adamant we were going to stay, but then he got talking to Eleanor, they were both pretty drunk but that doesn’t excuse it”, “doesn’t excuse what?”, Cesca said. “He kissed her and I don’t just mean a peck I mean he really went for her and I mean it felt and looked meaningful, like they were meant to be”, Adana’s voice drowned out at the end of her sentence.
Cesca had a sudden flashback of last term, the brief moments that she was actually there, Cesca suddenly saw the way that Tom and Eleanor looked at each other, she hadn’t really thought about it before with Tom and Adanna being a couple but they defiantly had some kind of chemistry, Cesca felt awkward I mean Tom was her friend too, how was this supposed to work, Adanna and Tom were defiantly not on friend terms especially after everything he did to her, but Cesca was also feeling mad at Tom, cheating was the biggest bug bear Cesca had, in a relationship your meant to stay committed to one another, why else are you together. It hurt her more the fact that Tom was her friend; she never thought he could do that to anyone. Cesca offered Adanna a shoulder to cry on, before sorting her out, wiping away her tears and slight panda eyes, “Right you’re going to go in there and do your job, I’m here for you. It’s going to be hard to face him but you’re going to have to do it, Be strong, like you always are, it’s usually you picking up the pieces, aye”, Cesca said, reassuring Adanna and attempting to boost her confidence levels, they headed into school, today defiantly helped that it was an INSET day, it could have been the day and moment from hell if the kids had been in. The pair of them reached the staff room, “Now head up, strong”, Adanna walked in Cesca followed and they got on with their morning as normally as possible, Cesca kept her eye on her friend, this had defiantly hit her more than any one would have expected. Cesca sat down next to Jonah and took a deep breath in, “everything okay”, “Not exactly”, “What’s up”, “Let’s just say Adanna and tom are finished”, “What? Why?”, Jonah asked, “he cheated”, Jonah was as shocked as Cesca was, “Seriously”, “I don’t quite know what to do”, “Look, take a deep breath and let it sort itself out, relationships are tricky and it’s only going to be stressful, Adanna will always have you, she knows that but you got to stay calm, we got our twins and nothing needs to stress you out”, Cesca looked up at Jonah, he always knew what was best, he would always be there to take care of her and look out for her, she was his Cesca his beautiful wife who he meant the world to him. Cesca looked down at their twins they were both sleeping, it was peaceful one of those golden moments, the teachers were cooing and congratulating as Karen walked in to talk to everyone, but then shockingly she bounced over, “Cesca, it’s lovely to see you”, Cesca smiled, Karen and Cesca really had built up a good relationship after everything, it was nice to be on good terms with your boss. “Are these the twins”, “Yeah, Betsy and Oscar”, “They are gorgeous, Oscar defiantly looks like Jonah”, Karen said, “You haven’t seen his little smile”, the pair talked away until Karen really did need to get on with delivering the agenda of the next term. But then Tom walked in the room was silent, Cesca felt awkward she shifted the way she was sitting, “Ces, don’t worry. I love you”, Jonah whispered in her ear, his hand on her thigh and a relieved smile on her face, “I love you to”, she said looking up at Jonah quickly before listening in to what Karen had to say.
“So it’s a new term and a new year, hope you all had a lovely summer. We have high hopes for Waterloo road this year”, Karen began, Cesca turned to look at Adanna whose glare was fixed solely on Tom whose fingers were interlocked with Eleanor’s, Cesca’s heart just melted for her, relationships at work really were hard to cope with, especially in the cases when everything turns belly up, “Right well I want to finish by welcoming back Cesca our head of Spanish after being on maternity leave after having their twins Betsy and Oscar, congratulations guys there truly gorgeous and I have to say they have been very good throughout this”, Jonah and Cesca smiled. “I would also like to welcome Hattie Williams, a new history teacher. Hattie was a slim blonde lady, fresh out of college, she seemed lovely and friendly but rather quiet she hadn’t had a chance to properly mingle in with anyone as of yet, but it was only the start of term. “Finally we have a few new students joining, Nikki Armstrong and Esme Rodriguez, both year 8 pupils, they will be in your tutor group Cesca, Nikki has just been taken out of a foster placement so we have been told she could be quite fragile under the surface but overall I have been told she is a confident student with a love for sport and Spanish”, “Well I’m not going to complain if students want to learn”, Cesca said. “Yes, teaching is much more enjoyable when students want to learn, Esme has recently moved over from Spain, she speaks amazing English but we felt she would benefit from having you as her tutor you being our head of Spanish”, “I’ll do my best to make them feel welcome”, Cesca was rather excited about meeting her new mentees, it was always nice to have some new fresh faces in the school. So they had all been informed of the new plans and new details for the new school year, they were all set all that was left to do now was bring on the first day back, though for Adanna that was seeming to be an even harder step to climb with Tom fully embracing his new relationship with Eleanor despite it only being over for less than 8 hours. Adanna really was going to have to keep strong if she was going to have any chance of getting through this, she just needed to remember Cesca’s words, she was here to do her job and she needed to remember that she was here for the students and that was what mattered, Adanna decided the best thing to do would to just get on with it all so she went and admired baby Betsy and Oscar who were still fast asleep, it made Cesca feel better inside seeing Adana’s genuine smile that they all often saw reappear after finally getting everything straight in her head, though it sure wasn’t going to be as easy as just forgive and forget.
