Chapter 36 - Good news all round
Cesca and Jonah shared a long embrace, the puzzle was once again complete, there were no more missing pieces or shattered hearts, but a bond that was even stronger than before, a bond that was prepared to welcome a new born baby into its arms. It was all so exciting, this was what was to bring them closer that and the love they shared that never once died despite the heart break and tears. Mia was on the mend so no more worrying, they could finally be that normal family, a family expecting a baby, something that was exciting, Jonah would be there from this beginning this time, he would be there to support her from start to finish, he loved having Mia around, so he knew how happy this baby was going to make him. Cesca could see from his eyes that this was what he truly wanted, he was happy, there was nothing eating him up inside the truth was out, though there was defiantly something exciting going on in his head, his eyes looked like they might just explode out of his head. “So what’s the news that you’re excited about?” Cesca asked flirtatiously, fully aware they didn’t have long till everyone was to be coming out of lessons or coming back from lunch. “Well, I’ve been doing some thinking and I was going to tell you in Spain, but then everything went pear shaped”, Cesca laughed it was as if what happened in Spain had been forgotten, now that there was a baby involved they pair of them had decided that was what was important, Spain was a blip, a mistake that did scar but wasn’t going to mould their future together, instead it was to make them stronger, “Spit it out Jonah, don’t know if I can take all these surprises today”, Jonah smiled holding her close as he said what was on his mind, “Well I have been thinking about becoming a teacher”, “Really, Jonah that’s wonderful, are you sure it’s what you want, you’re not just saying it so you can be closer to me?”, Cesca wanted to make sure that he wasn’t just trying to make life more fun, this was a career not a school playground. “Yes, I have been talking to tutors at Uni and friends, Danny in particular, they think I should do it”, “Any idea what you would specialise in?”, “Science possibly Spanish, but that might seem a bit weird”, “Why would that be weird”, Cesca asked slightly confused “Because I applied for a job here, I should find out but the end of the day whether I have got it”. “You applied for the science post!”, “yeah, are you happy?”, “Jonah, I couldn’t be more happier for you, things are finally falling into place, you’re going to have a job, plus one of the perks will be seeing me everyday I’m sure”, Cesca winked and shone a flirtatious smile before kissing him once more. “Right you better go I have a lessons to teach Mr Kirby”, Cesca smiled, “I like the sound of that”. Cesca smiled, this day had gone from bad to amazing, they were back together, having a baby and to top it off Jonah might have a job, here at waterloo road. They would be working together.
Cesca went up to her door, “come in”, She said to her year 9’s the boys grunted and the girls smiled, typical year 9 behaviour, Cesca just laughed, she was in such a good mood, nothing was going to spoil this, “Right I want your assessment pieces on winning the lottery in please”. Only the odd few handed theirs in, Cesca was in a generous mood so simply addressed the class with “Right, I’m in a good mood, so you can have an extension, I want them in by Friday”, Cesca smiled, the class were loving this lesson, she was definitely their favourite teacher. It was Tuesday so this gave them3 days to do, very generous! The class began to recite one of Cesca’s favourite poems, taking it in turns to read a verse, Cesca was very impressed with the pronunciation, the class had come along miles. She had a beaming smile on her face, this class was going great it was just adding to the good day she was having, then out of the corner of her eye she spotted Jonah, standing at the door with flowers. “Carry on, I’m still listening” Cesca began to walk to the door, trying not to distract them all, “Te quiero”, Cesca blushed as she read the card that came with the flowers, “Gracias”, she decided to keep with the Spanish theme. “You heard about the post” , a smile grew across Jonah’s face, “Oh my god, you got the Job!”, Jonah reached out for her waist, “Jonah I’m teaching”, she said flirtatiously, “so will I, it’s not every day you get to celebrate having a baby and a new job” “Your right come here Kirby”, Cesca gave her husband a soft but meaningful kiss, “I better go, your distracting my students”, She winked, “thanks for the flowers”. Cesca re-entered the class, “get in there miss” One of the boys shouted out while one of the girls said, “He is so lovely, my boyfriend would never buy my flowers, he makes her so happy”. Cesca placed the flowers on her desk and turned around to face her class, who couldn’t help but embarrass her, her face was turning beet red. “Alright you lot, where were we?” Cesca looked through the text as one of the guys shot a final snarky comment “I don’t know but I’m pretty sure you had your tongue down your boyfriends throat”, Cesca was in hysterics, it was cringe but the kiss was so worth it, it had brightened up her day along with the constant spell of good news! She hadn’t heard anything negative all day! The lesson ended and so did the school day, Cesca packed her things, looking forward to spending the evening with her hubby and her rather excited little girl, she couldn’t help but wonder how it was all going on at nursery, how were daisy and Mia getting along after she had left them? Cesca left her classroom and headed for the staff room to grab her coat. She pushed the door open to find Adanna which was great, she needed to tell someone the good news and she could defiantly trust Adanna, she grabbed her coat before heading over to talk to her, Adanna had beaten her to it, “So, how did it go?”, Cesca had a beaming smile “Guessing it’s good, what happened?”, “Well, were having a baby!”, Cesca was so happy at the thought of having another little person in the family, another little Kirby, another piece of Jonah, her one true love. “Plus, he’s got a job at the school, he got the science teaching post”, “Ces, that’s great news!”, “I am so excited, he bought me flowers in the middle of my year 9 class”, Cesca laughed “See, he was definitely worth not giving up on”, “Adanna your so right, thanks so much. I better go, I have to pick Mia up from nursery, and it was her first day so I really don’t want to be late, give you a call later lovely”, “okay Ces, and take care”. Cesca walked down the corridor heading for the main entrance passing science on the way, as she noticed Jonah sitting in their talking to Chris, Cesca knocked on the door, “Can I ask why your keeping my husband?”, Cesca joked, they all joined in with fits of laughter. “Hey Ces, just going over the basic modules with Jonah, think he’ll be a great teacher, especially with him leaving this school, he understands the system.”, “He sure will be”, Cesca’s words were breathy, “Chris thanks for everything, I guess I will see you tomorrow then,” “Tomorrow?”, Cesca asked shocked, “Yeah, I start tomorrow”, “That’s fab Jonah, gosh they really must have been impressed with you”, “See you tomorrow Chris”, The pair said as they left for the car. “I’m proud of you Jonah”, Jonah smiled giving her a kiss, being sure to include their unborn baby before getting in the car, “I’m pretty sure I’ll have a little girl to be proud of very soon, I dropped her off this morning and before she had even gone in, she was making friends with this little girl daisy, she was really shy, but they were getting along great”, “Mia always was a kind hearted person, takes after you”, Cesca blushed “Thanks for the beet cheeks, she’ll be happy to see you, she missed you. Don’t worry I never said anything about us not being together, she just realised you weren’t there.
They arrived outside the nursery the pair got out, Jonah’s arm finding its way to her waist, he had two people to hold and he wasn’t going to hurt either of them. Mia came running out of nursery with Daisy, which was to be expected, “Hey munchkin, you have a good day?” Cesca asked “It was great we danced mummy, just like I said we would”, Cesca smiled. Jonah stepped out of the shadows so that Mia could see him, “Daddy!”, “Hello gorgeous”, “I missed you, where were you, mummy was very sad”, Jonah lifted his little monkey up before holding his wife close, “Well daddy hurt mummy, he was sorting it all out”, Cesca looked at Jonah with a smile on his face, she was rather liking his honesty, it was good to be frank with Mia, she was pretty mature for her age, sound anything like her father? “Mummy...Daddy” “yes Mia” they said in unison, knowing that she was going to ask for something. “Can daisy come round and have tea?” Mia’s little face lit up, “Baby, not tonight, we have something important to do, would daisy like to come for tea on Friday though Mia?” Cesca smiled at Daisy so that she knew that she hadn’t said no because she didn’t want her there it was simply because they needed to do something, “Yes please Mia’s mummy”, Cesca found this response rather cute, “okay well we’ll see you Friday daisy” “Come on rascal, we have some big news for you” Jonah said as he ushered her to the car. His arm was still around Cesca’s waist his fingertips resting slightly on her stomach. Cesca couldn’t help but smile, she was once again back to being her happy self, they were staying the strong bonded family they always were with a new addition, they drove home like two excited teenagers on a first date. The all got out the car, “Mia, on your marks get set...go”, Jonah raced Mia to the front door, letting her win, “Well done Mia, guess you’ll have to speed up next time Kirby, bit slow for my liking”, Cesca joked before kissing him softly and walking in. “Mia sit down a minute me and mummy need to talk to you”, Mia jumped on to the sofa, cuddling Flopsy in her arms, “Can Flopsy listen, he says he’ll be good”, “I’m sure he would like to know to”, Cesca added before allowing Jonah to tell her the good news “Mummy is going to have a baby, Mia”, Mia’s little face lit up, Jonah’s hand found its way to her stomach as he held her close, they were all so happy. “You mean I’m going to be a big sister”, “Yes, not just any big sister, the best big sister”, Cesca proudly stated to her gorgeous daughter, things really had changed for the better.
